At From Margins to Mainstream, we had the privilege of hearing from three remarkable Everyday Muslim Heroes who are making a real impact in their communities. Maryam Dadabhoy, Rabia Shahid, and Dr. Yusra Ahmad shared their journeys—what drives them, the challenges they’ve faced, and what keeps them going.
Each of them is doing meaningful work that uplifts others:
Maryam Dadabhoy is breaking barriers in sports by creating space for Muslim women through Sisterhood Softball League.
Rabia Shahid is serving the most vulnerable through her charitable organization, Sacred Hand Canada.
Dr. Yusra Ahmad is ensuring mental health support is accessible and faith-centered with her initiative, Mindfully Muslim.
With Dr. Safiyyah Ally leading the discussion, the conversation was honest, thought-provoking, and a powerful reminder of why representation matters. It’s about more than just being seen—it’s about taking action, lifting others up, and making space for our stories to be told.
Their words left us feeling inspired and grateful to be surrounded by people who are not only pushing boundaries but also creating meaningful change in their communities every day.
These are the stories that deserve to be heard. This is why we do what we do.
